Target measures

Measures

  • Number of First Nations people aged 15 and over who had accessed the internet at home in the last 12 months.

  • Proportion (%) of First Nations people aged 15 and over who had accessed the internet at home in the last 12 months, by sex.

Available by

Sex: males, females, persons.

Data period

2022–23

Data source

ABS National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Survey 2022–23 (ABS 2025).

Region types

Main structures: Australia, states and territories.

Region types

  • Data have been suppressed if the denominator for the percentage was less than 100, due to concerns about the reliability of percentages based on small denominators.

  • Data have been flagged as use with caution if the margin of error was between 10% and 15%.

  • Data have been suppressed if the margin of error was above 15%, or where a margin of error could not be reliably calculated.

Notes

  • Data are based on AIHW analysis of ABS microdata.

  • The 2022-23 NATSIHS includes a sample of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were usual residents of private dwellings.

  • Estimates for the ACT are not available separately and are included in Australian totals, due to a lower-than-expected number of households included in the survey.

  • In 2022-23, personal use of the internet includes access through all device types (mobile phones, smart watches, laptops etc).

  • Internet access questions in the 2022-23 NATSIHS differ from what was previously collected in the 2014-15 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Survey (NATSISS).

  • Comparable non-Indigenous data on internet usage does not exist.

  • Data values have been randomly adjusted using perturbation to avoid the release of confidential data. Discrepancies may occur between sums of the component items and totals.
