By 2031, increase the proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 25-34 years who have completed a tertiary qualification (Certificate III and above) to 70 per cent.

- Certificate level III or above based on the Australian Qualifications Framework includes Certificate Level III or IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma, Bachelor Degree, Graduate Diploma/Certificate or a Postgraduate Degree.
- Data excludes overseas visitors and people for whom Indigenous status was not stated.
- Data excludes people for whom information on highest year of school completed and non-school qualification attainment was not stated or inadequately described.
- Data for 2021 was analysed by the AIHW using ABS TableBuilder. Data for 2016, 2011 and 2006 was sourced from a custom data request provided by the ABS (ABS 2021).
- Data have been randomly adjusted by the ABS to protect confidentiality. No reliance should be placed on small numbers.
- Remoteness Areas are defined by the Australian Statistical Geographical Standard (ASGS) and based on the Accessibility/Remoteness Index of Australia which uses the road distance to goods and services (such as general practitioners, hospitals and specialist care) to measure relative accessibility of regions around Australia (ABS 2023f).
- IRSD quintile analysis based on ABS IRSD 2021 which focuses on relative socio-economic disadvantage, using SA1 as the building block. Data are reported by IRSD quintile that are determined at the Australian level and exclude children with unknown or unavailable SEIFA score (ABS 2023i).
